Night driving is not part of the car driving test. This is certainly not something to do to pass the test.

Does that mean that people should not be practicing driving at night with their driving instructors, family, and friends? The answer would be no. The aim should not be only to pass the test. Drivers should cover all aspects of driving including night driving to be a defensive motorist.

Driving Lessons in the evening

Does driving teachers provide evening lessons? The answer is gonna be "yes". A lot of driving schools out there provide customer-centric lessons. This means that the trainer can book people for driving lessons in the evening if the pupil asks the trainer. People will have a great opportunity to practice night driving.

Motorists will be conducted at night at some point. So here are the top tips for driving safely at night:

Windscreens and glass

Not cleaned window glass and front screen obstruct the driver's vision and increased glare and dazzling. This can cause a dangerous situation. Be sure to keep all windows and windshields are clean before leaving.

Car wipers

The motorist will be able to clean the back and front windshield appropriately if the wipers are in good condition. Check wipers occasionally to ensure they are good for the purpose. Change them as soon as possible if they are not good enough.

Car speed

Driving very fast for weather or road type will definitely have negative impact on motorist's driving skills. It is not easy to see the intersection and potential dangers at night. Slow always a good time, especially when hidden dips, junctions, and bends are coming up.

Also, it can be tricky to judge the distance to stop. The basic factor to prevent accidents on the road is to drive in a braking speed limit so the motorist can stop safely.

Switch on the dip headlights

Motorists required dip headlights for night driving. They improve the visibility of the driver on the road. Other motorists would also be able to see you easily. Do not forget to allow them to be soaked when driving in the dark or at night.

Pedestrians at Night

People walking at night are vulnerable road users and not easy, mainly if they do not carry a reflective jacket which makes them visible.

Pedal cyclists

Warning for cyclists because they are also one of the vulnerable road users. They might not have reflective lights on their pedal bicycle or wearing a reflective vest. Cyclists can sometimes take measures that can not be predicted.

Car's Main headlights

Drivers are only allowed to use them if driving on a country road without streetlights and too dark to see ahead. Turn them off as approaching oncoming traffic to avoid dazzling other road users.

Reserve Evening Driving instructions

Book 2-3 evening driving lessons if someone has just passed their practical driving test. This will improve the new nighttime driving skills and motorists will be able to deal and handle any situation safely.

Planning to Overtake

Think three times before overtaking other road users at night. Don't overtake if it's not necessary, legal, and safe.
