Do I Drive on My First Driving Lesson

Thinking to Book First Driving Lesson

Feeling nervous and excited about the first driving lesson is a natural thing when it comes to learning to drive a car. This is nothing to worry about in fact learners mentally prepare themselves for their first driving lesson. Some learners can be over-confident that they know everything and get nasty experience on their first lesson. Nervousness actually makes a learner alert and they focus more.

Today, we would talk about some important things that learners need to know for their first lesson:

Driving Instructor and the Car

Registered driving schools and approved driving instructors normally will have dual control cars. Learners are in full control by driving instructors while teaching and transferring of driving skills and knowledge.

Driving instructors normally tell learners at the start of the driving lesson that they have got dual controls in the car. They can intervene if they feel that learner is gonna lose control of the car. Their intervention can be verbal, they can use dual control or they can grab the steering wheel.

They also mention that they are fully responsible for overall safety so the learner can relax and focus on their lesson.

They will start from the beginning and are capable to see what the learner can learn and achieve in his lesson. The instructor doesn't push learners in one way or the other and knows that the best way to make progress is to let learners move forward at his own pace.

The driving instructor's responsibility is to teach learners safely with due consideration of other road users.

What Things Come First

The first instructor will make sure that learner is legally allowed to drive by checking learner's provisional driving licence. If you don't have one then you need to apply for your provisional driving licence. You can do this online or through the post office. It's a lot easier and hassle-free if you do it online.

Remember that instructor will drive to some quiet area on your first lesson. Don't expect that you will drive from your home in your first lesson. When you get to the best training area then the instructor will teach you the fundamentals of the car and what you need to do for your safety and safety of other people.

Get to the Driver's Seat

The instructor will ask you to swap seats. He will then explain to you all the controls in the car known as the cockpit drill. This includes making sure all doors are closed properly, adjusting your seat, wearing seat belts and adjusting mirrors.

How to Move off and Stop the Car

Most driving schools and instructors make you move off and stop the car. First, they will explain to you everything that you need to know and understand to move off and stop the car. Then the instructor might teach and ask you to change up to 2nd gear. It depends on your progress. How quickly you learn and picks up things.

In the beginning, you will be fully dependent on your instructor's instructions. He will then gradually transfer responsibility to you and let you move off and stop the car independently. Obviously, he still responsible for overall safety.

Hopefully, your first driving lesson will be a good experience and enjoyable. Your trainer will adopt the most effective way that suits your learning abilities.

Also, you can practice in your own car with someone who over 21-year-old and have full licence for at least 3 years.
